Ruth Hoffman

Ruth Hoffman
Ruth has been part of our team since 2000. Even though Ruth’s military family made it too difficult to have pets, she always loved animals. When her husband retired from the military, they found a home with acreage so she could fulfill her dream of rescuing as many dogs and cats as she wanted. ten dogs and three cats later, that dream is a work in progress.

Melody Clark
Melody joined the team in 2006. She grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana and spent her earliest years in the saddle. She’s had all sorts of pets, including Sunflower, the cow. She was involved in 4-H, has always loved the outdoors and traveling, including a 3-month stint on a New Zealand bull farm. She loves spending time with her husband and dogs whether it is watching sports or playing ball.

Amber Michaud
In California, my mom ran a small animal rescue where we would take in unwanted animals, nurse them back to health, then find them a loving home. Washington has been my home for many years and I have inherited mom's compassion to help animals. Working with animals is my dream job. I live in quite a full house with my mom, step father, boyfriend, 4 dogs and 2 cats. I love a cuddly night watching movies with the cats or getting the dogs all riled up with tug of war.

Cassondra

Cassondra Shelby
At the age of five she decided she wanted to help animals. She attended college in the state of Kentucky, receiving a bachelor’s in animal health technology. A licensed technician for three years, her previous job experience includes zoo keeping in the bird and reptile department and more recently working in a small animal practice. Her motto with pets is, “There is always room for one more!” She currently lives in Gig Harbor with her patient husband, 3 cats, 1 snake and 2 dogs.

Emalee Gissberg
Emalee has spent her entire life surrounded by animals. Growing up on a small farm in Oregon, her favorite chore was catching chickens that managed to escape their coop and her first “job” was dog and cat sitting. She moved to Washington in 2010 and has been a veterinary receptionist since 2011, starting out in Seattle before joining the Brookside team in 2012. Emalee lives in Port Orchard with her husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 4 chickens

She moved to the Gig Harbor area in 2003 with her family and has loved it here ever since! She attended PIMA Medical Institute and graduated with her associate degree in 2010. She achieved her Veterinary Technician License in April 2011. Melissa loves hiking, being outdoors, spending time with family and friends and of course spending time with her little Yorkie/Pomeranian mix “Romeo.”
